Hi. The exterior almost always seems to need repairs when windows are replaced… and quite often the interior trim as well. They could unearth rot as well… house improvements and repairs seem to lead to other unexpected issues. We once had a leak in our shower pan and ended up with a whole bathroom remodel. It didn’t make sense to just tile the shower and not the floor.. then why would we keep the old cabinets… sinks… faucets.. shower heads… glass… lights. It’ll depend on what you want to spend in the end… I might wait for the b&b to see if construction material prices ever go back down, but it is an incredibly convenient time to tackle it while you’ve already got remodeling going on.

They were able to replace the windows on the front elevation of my house without damage to the stucco.

They were not able to replace the french doors on the back of the house without substantial damage to the stucco.

I think the factors are how the windows are set into the structure and any underlying preexisting conditions with the stucco. On the rear of the house some of it let go in big chunks as soon as the doors were touched.

I would say you don't necessarily have to repair it, particularly if they remove things carefully, but I would be prepared for possibility of some repair.

My concern would be since their agenda seems to be to replace the stucco that they won't even try to be careful removing the old windows. (?)

We need pictures how else can we know what the issues are.
