What will it take to bring washing machine drain up to code?

1 1/2” pipe comming out of the wall. I believe 2” is the standard for p-trap and standpipe. Can I use some type of converter or do I need to do something behind the wall? How difficult could this be? This is in the state of Florida.

You can't "convert" pipe sizes, so you'll need to get into the wall if you want to use that one. Do you know where that pipe goes? Is there a vent attached?

You need to run 2" all the way to where the washer drain line ties into the main drain line.

I agree if you are in FLA you can't do this DIY anywahy is my understanding so get a plumber.

Yes, there is a vent attached. Ive decided not to take it on this go around. Got a plummer’s opinion, they said it should not be an issue keeping it the same size
