Can we see the actual area. I do not like shower curtains and avaoud them if possible but I need to see your space .

Just a comment, because our 1960s hall bath has this exact same configuration (minus the window). we have the original long chrome shower rod and its great, no problems, just needed a good polish to remove some rust. and i have 2 shower curtains (inner for waterproofing and outer with a pretty design) but keep in mind the bench will not be covered by the shower curtain so there will always be air flow coming in (i find it cold, but we dont have a heater or in floor heating) and water may splash out on the bench side, or roll off the bench side if not leveled correctly (ours isnt leveled correctly), etc. or get two curtain rods to prevent this (the outer to keep out colder air and inner to act as water proofing?). when we get around to remodeling i will be replacing this bench with a narrow ledge or niche because of these issues and using the rest of the back for shelving and storage.

Thanks, Stephanie. We're aware of the curtain gap with the bench. The cool air flow hasn't been an issue for us, but I do like your idea about two rods. Come to think of it, if we do a double curtain on a single rod, we could cut out the plastic liner to accommodate the bench. I'll cross that bridge after I figure out the curtain rod!

We had the same issue with a recent bath addition. I had wanted a fixed rod and when we discovered the opening was larger than standard size and a shelf was added to use some of the found space, options were limited. I instead ordered a longer adjustable rod and once locked in, has been very sturdy and no slip issues. Have liner and then curtain as you can see in photos.

Would you consider having a glass panel made for the "seat" section, then a shower curtain for the balance?

You could do a track on the ceiling to hang your curtain from. Length is customizable.

@aflysomegolf-- that's exactly what I was imagining. Do you know the manufacturer of your rod/mounts? I'm not finding much online and there are a few lousy reviews.

@Melanie Hooks-- I've never seen that before! Intriguing! Do you also have a manufacture to recommend? I'll look into it.

Oooh the ceiling mounted looks interesting. i would think looking up medical supply manufacturers. they look likw what you see in the dr office and the hospital and just make sure they are moisture resistant?

Sarah, It was a TEECK rod adjustable to 85”. I ordered it online. We also considered a glass panel initially but makes it difficult to bathe little ones and reach water controls. Good luck with your project.
