Seems like it would be considered a den since you already have a formal living room. Definitely a great space to entertain while in the kitchen since they flow into one another.

Do you have two sliders, one on either side of the fixed middle window? You don't want to block the traffic pattern to get outside since this is probably a big feature of summer living. I would like to see a picture of the room not from the kitchen to get a better feel for the space. How do you see yourself using this room? If you have just moved in and you're not sure, you might be best to wait for several months and see what it's like to live there. The use and layout might become more obvious to you in time.

Exactly- the traffic pattern is odd because there is a sliding door in one corner and a fireplace on the other. There is not two sliders. I’m just about to move so I may need to just live in it for awhile.
