What to do with west facing patio doors?

Just finishing a renovation on our plain old condo in Florida (now our permanent home). We have a triple sliding patio door at the end of our great-room...opening onto a small covered patio. The room faces west and gets blistering hot afternoon sun even in winter. We have Coolaroo shades on the patio screens which helps, but need some sort of window treatment for the sliders....for filtered sun and nighttime privacy. Our neighbors can see in if they look hard...even tho the unit opens out onto a common green area. Ceilings are only 8 foot....it's your typical 1970s condo. Was thinking of sliding panels. I've never been a fan of any window treatments -would prefer to leave them bare, but can't. The rest of the rooms have plantation shutters. The decor of the room is pretty modern...a lot of West Elm furniture. any ideas and sample photos are hugely appreciated!
