Of your options, I only like the number 2 from the top. Matte tiles are usually pretty meh unless they have a hand made quality to them. Are you removing the granite backsplash? make sure the tile color works next to the counter.

I don't want to complicate your decision, but I have to say none of the above. Maybe the reason you're struggling with the decision is that none of the ones you're considering are right. You now have very white cabinets and a warm counter. You need something that ties the two together. I can't tell you exactly what that is, but it's not more white. Also, since you already have the 4" granite backsplash you actually shouldn't be adding tile above it, which Skippack Tile & Stone alluded to above. If the granite is staying you should be looking at paint colors. You should be looking to pull a color from the granite that also works with the white whether you do tile or paint.

@kandrewspa we are taking the 4” backsplash off. And believe it or not, my counter has a lot of ivory and taupe in it and my cabinets are an off white. its hard to tell in photo but they go together nicley. might not he everyones taste though. And my house style is very farmhouse so i like the pop of warmer granite. im not a fan of the overdone monochrome white and gray or white on white on white. With that being said. i also like to keep it as simple as possible so i prefer to not go with a colored backsplash that will just add more busyness IMO. here’s a close up of my counter with one of the white tiles i picked(the tiles are also shades of warm white not cool bright white) And ive also added some inspiration photos

The tile in your closeup with the counter looks good as long as it works with the cabinets. The problem is it’s hard to tell for sure from a computer screen.

If your original photo is at all accurate, I'd choose the 2nd tile from the bottom. The others look too grey to me, and the granite looks warm.

Then again, your closeup of the granite looks pretty grey...how would you describe it?

any of them are fine. the last with more gray will work because there is black in the counter/black hardware and a whiff of gray in floor tiles... I like the crisp white of the 3rd pick in the foursome but you dont have to go that bright with the white. 2nd from top is a nice middle of the road pick. maybe do that .

I would choose one of the glossy tiles and think they all look pretty good and 2nd down looks like a good choice on my monitor.

Beth, id describe my granite as a light taupe-ish tan.

I agree with Kate; 2nd down and definitely glossy over matte. I like your color choices a lot and think they will look lovely with your granite.

Then for me, any of the top 3 would work, color-wise. The 2nd from the top looks the most glossy, so you'll have to decide if you prefer glossy to matte. For me, I look for a balance. The matte will make it more earthy maybe, and since there's not much of that going on, I think it might work better.

For example, we also have tile floors & painted cabinets, and a quartz island, so I insisted on wood shelves & butcher block on our counters to warm things up. (Can't decide on tile though lol)

Hi! Just a thought to add to my earlier comment. I recently finished a kitchen remodel how can relate to how paralyzing some decisions can feel (there are so so many of them!) and you just want all the materials to compliment each other well. Things that you never thought would be hard to decide on (which pulls, which pendants, which paint color(s)?) all of a sudden take up so much brain space. Some people will love matte backsplashes, some will love polished, bi”it ultimately the best advice I was given was to trust my gut. If you gravitate online to backsplash inspiration photos with matte backsplashes, then that might be your preference and you should go with that no matter what all of us say. I went with white kitchen cabinets and light quartzite countertops even though there was literally a comment on here from a pro that said “if I see one more white kitchen, I’m going to vomit.” That still makes me chuckle because I’ve never loved a space more than I love my white kitchen. Your home is your space and it should resonate with you and bring you delight. That’s how you know it’s the right choice. Good luck; I’m sure it will turn out beautifully!

I agree with Kendrew. the exact same thing happened to me. Our Giallo counter was too warm for our bright white kitchen. We installed a white backsplash only to rip it out a day later.

the solution was to get a transition that would work between the two.

This was 12 years ago.

we wound up with a cream tile which matched the cream in the granite.
