The video isn’t clear and I’m getting dizzy trying to watch it. Still pix would be better. That said, pine borers and sap suckers are the usual suspects. Where are you located?

Those holes look big enough that they may be from the Black Turpentine beetle, Dendroctonus terebrans. The pix should be sent to your local county extention service to see what they say,

By the way, I haven't seen any clumps of frass on the tree like what you see reported with turpentine beetle infestations.

I have seen sapsucker holes in trees before but I don't see that here. Don't they usually drill lots of holes in rows?

Yes they do drill holes in rows.

Much depends on if those errant roots are part of the same tree or not.

I just thought you'd better get an opinion on those too while you're at it. :-)

Girdling roots can have a definite impact on the health of the tree. And this can then allow other advantageous maladies like bugs & disease to move in, adding to the tree's problems.

Your extension guys may even come out for a hands-on inspection, which would be best in these circumstances.
