I’ve had 2 and never had ripples…guess i got lucky.

They did not used to have ripples but now they do, and the rippling seems to get more pronounced as time goes by. Not on the same sink: the more recent the manufacture of the sink, the more rippled they seem to be.

On the Home Depot website listing for the Kohler Whitehaven sink, in the Q&A section, someone asked "my kohler sink and front apron has waves in it , not a fat smooth finish in front is that normal ??" It was answered, "My name is Tiffany with Kohler Co. I am happy to answer the question about the Whitehaven sink. All vertical surfaces will have some degree of waviness. This is due to how the enamel melts in the furnace. Vertical surface have gravity pulling the enamel down, during melting, creating a slightly rippled surface. Waviness is in the eye of the beholder, and at the proper angle and light source any sink/tub will have a wavy look. Thank you for choosing KOHLER."

I myself would want one without the waves, as so many Whitehaven sinks do not have the waves, and the sink is expensive.

Here's my brand new sink. I can see some movement in it but not as pronounced as your pictures. Maybe it depends on the light.

I am also finding the explanation for the ripples to be very strange.

I installed a Kohler cast iron sink years ago and it had NO RIPPLES. I know that it was a Kohler cast iron because I came across the original bill of sale when I was clearing out some paperwork.

Astounding that their quality control has gone to seed at this point and they are justifying it by telling people this is how it always was and is part of the process.

Thanks Stiley. The back of the apron of my sink sits at a slant where the light hits it and makes it stand out. Its going into an island so the sink sides are visible

Kohler is telling me to exchange it but turn around would be weeks only to get the same

Some online discussion has indicated going thru two to three sinks before getting a descent one

I have a large Kohler about seven years old and it has no flaws. So change in manufacturing, sad.

There is always some but that looks excessive. I'd exchange understanding there is a schedule impact.

Many production delivery & quality issues in all brands over the past 26 months of Covid. The last four homes full of Kohler product were pretty great except for some import toilet mechanisms they used, quickly replaced.

Every sink material & color has both advantages & disadvantages. There is no perfection, but lots of choices and prices from under $100 to over $10K.

It does seem a lot ripplier than most.

I think it looks fabulous and love the texture. If the finish is sound, I'd keep it and tell people I picked it out for the ripples. You might feel differently of course! :)

My new Kohler cast iron sink is looking this way too. I didn't see the bumps when it was first installed.
