Japanese Maple Advice?

Looking for advice on three Japanese maples in Zone 7. The Butterfly Japanese Maple in the first photo has never flourished in five years in a shaded bed between a wild cherry and a black gum surrounded by Vinca Minor and Dwarf Burford Hollies (which haven’t grown as vigorously as the same age plants in other areas either). This year the maple’s leaves appear even sparser. The tall maple in the second photo (Bloodgood?) has grown well in six years, but I wonder if it’s time to prune the two branches near the bottom of the trunk. The hard-to-see runt in the third photo has been moved twice in six years in hopes of finding a place where it will take off, but after this spring’s move, I’m wondering if it’s time pull the plug. Appreciate any and all advice, nursery pros, master gardeners and Japanese Maple experts.
