2nd Study/Office - Please Help

I am really trying - i know i still need to install a new curtain rod almost to the top to heighten the room, get the rest of the doorknobs done where they are all the same….

I love an “Art Deco” - maybe “dark glam” (i think bedroom will be darker based on the artwork) - i feel like this

A) lighting has to go…replace it with…? Something tall? Or hanging? On the wall?

B) obviously artwork and decor is much needed. I was thinking some white / gold hanging shelves for practical things like my echo / diffuser?

C) i even saw some pictures of something similar done with an L shaped “couch” - no not couch, like almost a reading….booth thing? I love loved the way it looked but really don’t have the gift that most on this app do :(

Maybe an accent wall in time…

Chandelier > fan?

White gold bookshelf

I’m not trying to just fill every open space….however, there IS a lot of space, and I’d love to use some - especially if half can be lounge-y + functional….

Would love any advice / ideas.

Y’all are amazing. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

    Help! :(

The bold rug is dictating a lot of the room decor. The wall art and table lamps are too delicate for the rug. One or the other has to go - either keep the rug, or keep the wall art and table lamps.

I think that you need to tell us more about how you use this room. Is it a functional work space/study? Do you need a background wall for Zoom meetings and the like? You don’t achieve that with the green drapery closed. Do you need shelving for work? Why the two chairs? (Apart from a resting place for your GORGEOUS little friend!!!!). Do you have clients? Start with the NEEDS first…function. Then move to wants. Lighting? An easy chair with, perhaps, an ottoman…for you to read in? Where is your personality? Art? I think the best rooms are those that aren’t simply “staged.” They are lived in. Used. Tell us more about how you will use this space. (I know you say it is a study, but….????)

I work from home, so it’s really just for me - i needed the drapes and chose that emerald green color, they have a pretty gold thing where i can tie them back. I like the rug. I like having little lounge areas throughout so i can mix things up when i need a break, or have a friend over. So nothing too serious - no major entertaining or clientele visiting - just trying to bring order to things in a comfortable/visually appealing way :)

I like what you have going on so far. I don't know whether it's the angle that the picture was taken from, but it looks like the desk should be moved more into the center of the room. As for the ceiling fan, if you use it don't replace it with a chandelier, just replace it with something more modern. If you don't need a fan, a small chandelier would be a nice look - just be sure to get one that will provide good lighting as well as look good. A gallery wall on the large blank wall would give you something to look at when you need to rest your eyes. It looks like you may be able to fit a console table on that wall also.

I think you're off to a great start. You have plenty of drapery length to raise the rod. When you do, also extend the rod past the edges of the window and add another set of drapes so you have a nice, full stack on the sides (no part covering the window) which will make it feel more lux. The one set barely covers the windows when they're closed - aim for drape width that is 2 1/2 x the width of the window.

You seem to be drawn to high contrast (saw your Entryway posting too) but your Ideabooks have a lot of warm wood tones in them. You can use more gold for warmth and add a wood element. Here's an idea with an etagere behind your desk that you can style and a wood cabinet between the doors and some artwork. A tall potted plant in the corner where your cord is plugged in. You may want to consider a small coffee table in front of the chairs.

@JT7abcz ah this is amazing!! how did you do that? and where did you find these things? i love it! & great advice on the drapes! so would you recommend just getting a third panel? i have a new rod on the ground - just waiting on ladder to arrive before assembling

already took your advice on the table bit! :):)

You'll want two more panels for a total of four. Sewing two together for each side will make them easier to handle but it isn't a crisis if they're separate. The etagere is from Ballard Designs and the artwork is from Gammamade. If the sizes don't work or you're trying to stretch a budget, you can power shop online or in person to create the same feel with similar items.

I really like kandrewspa's suggestion about art on the wall across from your desk so you'll have something to enjoy while you work. The lamp on the table between the chairs is too small and low. Consider how you can raise the light - maybe plug in wall sconces or picture lights or a floor lamp. Also, when I suggested a small coffee table, I intended for the chairs to stay where you had them and just noticed you have a small tufted footstool in one of the photos which looks nice.

@kandrewspa love this idea too! just trying to picture it myself or choose a starting point :/ it's like writer's block or something and i either get so overwhelmed i buy one of everything that makes no sense - or i panic and freeze and cry LOL

i am leaning in to "Cruella de Vil meets glam meets Queen of Hearts" i love animal print (not dalmation), faux fur, some colors, chandeliers, mirrored items....
