Original 1940 black tiles (yes, asbestos). Want to cover them with a new flooring. No need to rip up the original tiles, which are in perfectly fine shape. Vinyl seems to be the best option as although basement is dry, one can never rule out a future water leak.

I'm not keen on all the vinyl options I see at Home Depot nor the "wood" look. All the upstairs floors are hardwood and any wood style flooring in the basement will look odd to me. But I'd like something light colored to make the space lighter. I'm just starting this project so I'd be interested in seeing what other people have done for their basement flooring.
