I would choose the lightest color from the counter if you must paint it is always good to post pics of the whole space when asking a question.

I don't think any color is going to look better than what you already have. Why do you need to paint them at all? You could change the pulls to brushed nickel if you don't like the contrast of the black. Changing the counters would be an easier way to change the appearance of the kitchen. Painting cabinets is difficult and time consuming when done right. If not done right the paint peels.

there is no dilemma. change your hardware and you could paint a neutral off white on the walls and everything would look good.

Since you can change to new cabinets, I'd go all 3 drawer lowers in pale French Oak. Not a hint of yellow. Change the counters in the future.

Cabinets are great! Save money for countertop. Use existing countertop for outside kitchen.
