I would remove the shutters, paint the gable a brick red or burgundy color and get a new door with a full view glass.

I also think updating the landscaping would go a long way. you could get a plan from a designer for the front that would freshen up the house

Not about your house - you need to remove the mulch from around the base of your trees. I know the trees cuts the house but it is really according to where you live and if you need the shade in the summer. Landscaping is always an issue when someone wants to update.

Brick needs to cleaned properly and not with a power washer. I agre the gable needs to be toned to work better with the brick Remove the shutters and if you are in town a walkway from the street to the front door is IMO a great way to start new landscaping.I agree a new front door and is there a garge near the house ? If so we need to see that too.
