Wow! Congratulations on your new baby. You might start out on ugly, plain fabric. It would be a shame to waste something you pieced.

I've got so much to do in the next two weeks that I won't have it installed until after Labor Day. Latifolia, you are right about not using a pieced top to practice. My friend said she's got some ugly fabric I can use to practice. I've been looking on line to see what these machines are selling for - some for over twice what I paid. I can't believe my good fortune. I asked the owner of the shop I purchased it through if I should have it tuned before I brought it home. He said he went through the machine when it came in, and it's in great shape. It has only 1,000,000 stitches on the stitch counter, which seems like a huge number to me, but I guess is quite low. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

It will be like Christmas Day! thank you Santa!!

Char, I've too busy to get it installed before next week. I've already bought a Windows tablet and clips for it, however. I've had the software updated to the latest version and watched a ton of videos on loading, etc. I'll be packing up my Tiara this weekend. I've decided to sell it on consignment through the store where I bought the Crown Jewel III. You'll laugh when you see it installed. It will be in our lower level family room, tucked between a wall of bookcases and a sofa. I've decided to go with function over form. We hardly ever use the family room, so I figured, what the heck, I'm going to put a longarm in there. My main sewing room/office is on our main level. Not ideal, but doable.

LOL, Lois - my quilt frame took over the dining room years ago! We never ate in there anyway.

We're starting to plan for our retirement relocation in a couple of years and my major requirement is a sewing room large enough for my regular sewing space and the quilt frame.

Donna, it's obvious where our priorities lie. Good for you for planning ahead. There's no way I could get my DH to move from here, so I guess they'll be carrying us out.

Lois, we never thought we would relocate, either. But about a year ago the idea to get out of metro Orlando got in our heads. We just bought a lot in the north Florida town of Live Oak. We'll be leaving a metro area of 2.5 million for a town of fewer than 10,000! It's going to be an adjustment, but we are really ready for a slower pace.

Wow, Donna, that will really be a change in life-style for you. You are brave to make such a move. We live on a large lake in the suburban Minneapolis area. We have only half an acre, but we are only 25 minutes from downtown, so we have the best of both worlds. When he isn't golfing, my DH is puttering around his workshop, in the yard or with the dock or boats. I don't know what he'd do in a condo. I love my gardens, but it's getting harder every year to take care of them. We are at the stage where we are hiring out some of the work like window washing, raking, etc. I guess as long as we are able to pay for help, we can stay here. And now, I will have another toy to play with. It's being installed on Monday.

Lois, we bought an acre so DH can have a workshop. The guy has worked hard his whole life so if he wants a workshop, he can have one! We’re also going to have an in-law suite for my sister who is in a wheelchair but lives independently. We will plan the house with aging-in-place in mind.
