I moved this big fella about two weeks ago, he's been just fine even in the heat, I pretty well had gotten the entire root system nicely intact! I did give a good sprinkling of fertilizer as well and this agastache now looks better than prior to moving it, of course have watered it several times as well! YES, I know some says NEVER fertilizer a new transplant! Years ago, had asked an esteemed gardener regarding such, she replied "Well, the thing STILL has roots doesn't it, then feed it!" I fertilize ALL transplants other than those with a very compromised root system and also will go more lightly in September as summer wanes. Again, if you're gonna move something now, dig big and deep or don't bother, lol. :)

Mine is almost 5 feet tall and branched out a good 3 1/2 feet wide. I'm sure I won't get all the roots. Iv moved ones half the size with deep roots iv had to cut. I hate to move it since it's so happy but it's smothering the plant next to it so I need to move it over about 2 ft.

Ohhh, yeah, that's a big brute for sure that would require cutting back if moved now! :(

Hey Guys/Gals, I have a robust BF that is in its 3rd season (permanently in a container).

As I recall agastaches are short lived perennials. And given that BF is sterile how do you propagate it or....?

Frozebudd, I just moved it. Dug wide and deep so hopefully I will have luck like you. They are calling for rain the next couple of days so hopefully it makes it if not I guess I'll be making a trip to the local nursery.

Sooo, how did the agastache transplanting end up going? My plant has been rather happy, the foliage darkened up nicely with the boost of fertilizer I had given and more blooms have pushed along with a good deal of fresh new growth I've utilized as cuttings. I know, I could just grow out the seed produced, though would like to reproduce the plant identically for a nice uniform patch of it.

Rouge, did you end up taking any cuttings, if not and your plant does not make it through to yet another spring, just might wish to pick up another then, I got my small plant for about $5.99.

I have not @FrozeBudd_z3/4 :(. With my singleton Golden Jubilee I am hoping there will be some offspring.

(We notice these days that the Gold Finches are often on the stems of this GJ....eating the seeds on the spent flowers?)

I think it's OK Frozebudd. The leaves started to yellow some but my others are doing the same thing. Hopefully it shows up next spring.
