what happened to my shower??

We installed this brushed nickel hardware a few months ago and it suddenly started to look like this. I suppose the cleaning crew that came to my house used a product that caused this. I am trying to find out what they used. Is it by possible to fix it? I am so sad!!

It appears to-be the protective coating that was applied to protect the nickel from rust…has been removed partially….cant imagine it is possible to repair…or replace the coating effectively…

Hit it with a red Scotchbrite pad, going with the grain please. Should be an easy fix.

Are you sure it isn't a plastic protective film that has been partially removed?

Do you have hard water? Was a latex “stain resistant” additive part of the grout mix?
