Is it too late to change the fake beams to make them look real?

We actually wanted the beams like this- a bit less rustic/farmhouse as that’s not the look we are going for. 🤷‍♀️

is the door mahogany?

the beams are alder? hickory? elm?

what about the cabinets? birch?

what kind of floors are you doing?

they are all going to take stains differently.

why are they staining your cabinets on site? those should be done back in their shop.

In any case, as long as they're all in the same tonal family, it's fine. you wouldn't want a natural red oak floor, a red mahogany door, a walnut beam and an espresso island. if that makes sense.

as long as the wood tones all coordinate, it's fine if some are darker or lighter.

The door is Fir, cabinets and beams Maple. I do realize they would take same stain differently. We’ve done three different builds over the years with different general contractors and cabinet makers and every time they’ve been stained on site- interesting.

I hate fake beams and those really look fake and pretty sure you could have done something different avoid that huge post . I also do not like mixing too many different woods in a space since every one takes stain differently and I would alwsy have cabinets finished at the cabinet makers hopefully he has the ability to do that .

Not the profile of the beam, the placement of the beam. There is no support for some of the beams. Beams are structural members that are not vertical. They are generally supported from below by columns or walls. The beam in question shown in the above image appears to be supported by air, and looks fake.
