Can you find another spot for the end chairs? Bring them out only when needed?

Congrats on your new-to-you home! Like above comment, do you need seating for 8? That would certainly help give your kids more room to get in & out along the long wall if you can store a couple of the chairs. My second question is this your only dining area? Is there more “formal” dining room? It seems odd that the door would lead directly into your dining area & I’m guessing that door is a back door? Maybe a bit more info about the home layout would be helpful. If this is your only dining spot, I can see how a round table might work better in that space… It is a beautiful table, might just need to rethink it’s use? Can be used in another room as a desk/craft table for kids?

Agree with subracting the 2 chairs. Also agree with Beverly about art being really nice on that wall. If you keep the mirrors, I would lower them a bit and move them closer together.

I don't think your table placement looks bad, what is throwing everything off is the ceiling fan. It's close enough to the table to look like it should work but far enough that it doesn't. The small cluster of lights and fan blades are way off center at every angle. Consider making it a priority to change it out for a light fixture centered over the table.

Give up the head and foot idea. Butt a SHORT end to the wall under the mirrors which should go away and use art. Live with five or seven chairs. You will have plenty of room to navigate halls .

No fans in a kitchen dining please.......all they do is collect grease, and scatter the dust that doesn't stick to the grease : )
