Hello!

We're building a home in Florida and want a pool in our backyard. The photo shows the back of our house - the contour of the home is fixed, but the shape of the covered lanai is flexible.

- We want the pool to include: two 25-yard lanes for lap swimming, a shallow area for kids to play, and a hot tub area

- We'd like the covered lanai to be continuous with uncovered patio that encompasses the pool

- Ideally, the shallow area for kids and the hot tub would be close to the lanai's access to the main living space (toward the right of the sketch)

Specific questions:

- Advice regarding the shape of the pool?

- What can we do to minimize waves in the pool besides installing a full-blown gutter system? I was thinking we might put lane lines along the long edge of the pool - would that help? (We don't want a lane line between the two lanes, because we don't want to break-up the space)

Any other ideas/feedback appreciated!
