I used to grow Profusion zinnias, always liked the compact habit. Tricolor has a pretty look. I always like Green Rainbow.

That is not the August Groom I know. Some very pretty rebloom. Karin Cooke especially caught my eye. Bold Approval looks good. But may I ask, do Pierce daylilies multiply well in the South? I often hear comments that they have low bud count and slow multiplication farther north. I wonder where they multiply vigorously (other than Florida).

I like Karin Cooke, a delicate looking bloom. Tricolor caught my eye too…..I always like the contrast of a green throat with purple. The zinnias are pretty, its been awhile since I have grown them……I see why Maryl likes this variety.

Haha, Mantis! Obviously not August Groom but August Wedding (can’t have one without the other, though!!) I corrected it on the post. It is more yellow on this rebloom cycle. Some of my Pierce daylilies multiply very well while others do not. I have not made notes on low bud count so can’t answer that definitively. I assume that means I have not been unhappy with bud count!!

Sherry, Karin Cooke is so pretty whenever it blooms-earlier blooms have much darker edging.

Tricolor looks good, and I like Karin Cooke. My Jellyfish Jealousy also bloomed late - in July. It always has pale colors like that here. The Profusion zinnias look great as border! With all the flood waters in Jackson, Miss., I was wondering if you got lots of rain too.

Debra, I had more rain in August than June/July combined. I am 4 hours north of Jackson so no flooding here. Their problem is the Pearl River runs through it and so much of Jackson is in a flood zone. This is certainly not the first time they have suffered flooding but it is always so sad.

Kate, when i grew the profusion, they did not reseed as well as regulat zinnias, and thee colors were muted more. I imagine there are different varieties now. This has been well over 10 years ago.

I do like Phil Korth's intros and surpirsed how yellow the August Wedding pic was. I thnk he described it as cream but definitely looks more yellow for you. Nice group of pics. Another garden bed??? Can't wait to see what you plant in it. Always enjoy your bloom season pics of the beds.

Nancy, so far I have seen no seeds from the zinnias-they are just throwing off old blooms and ”profusely” blooming!!

Julia, just expanding two beds. I have some plants that need dividing and others needing to be moved. And I have a carload of 75% off perennials I found at a big box store that needed a home. Onviously I adopted them!!

August Wedding was cream on first bloom-it was pale yellow on first rebloom and shows this yellow color on second rebloom.

Kate: Thanks for the Zinnia shot. I really like the neat round mounds the Profusion series makes. I ordered a catalog from Harris Seed to see what they have in the Zinnia world. They have a a good selection of the Profusions. One is a double "Deep Salmon" that particularly interests me. They list a red one and a cherry one as not fading, but not the Salmon. So as usual it will be trial and error..........August Wedding looks very pretty. I like pale yellow just fine. It's my favorite of this batch......Maryl
