Do not cut off the old flower stem if it is green. It will take a while but new flowers will form on it.

I see ice cubes…. one of the orchid experts here should explain why you shouldn’t water orchids with ice cubes —- despite the tag on the plant likely telling you to do so. :p

i like the idea of precise minimal water application with an ice cube or two ...

but in my mind.. warped as it is.. they are tropical plants.. and my fat gut might suggest to me.. that tropical plants dont like cold soil or roots .... so i would avoid it ...

if you want to meter water application .. melt 2 ice cubes.. get a turkey baster.. suck up the melt.. and mark the sucker upper.. and then just water that much ...

all dead material will eventually fall off a plant.. there is no real reason for you to figure out how and where to cut it ... just be patient ...

green anything.. that has changed to all yellow.. is well on its way to browning and falling off .... so cut it back .. but not all the way;.. just enough so that you will forget about screwing around with it ...

anything still green.. is converting light into energy for the plant.. so dont cut it off unless you have pruning goals that require such ... plus what flora said about reflowering on Os
