Who is telling you to paint a neutral color? do you want to change colors? i love these colors and they would make me happy. white rooms make me feel like i am renting and i find grey depressing. :) i’m sure there is a neutral that would look nice but do you want this? the wood windows look nice and i would keep them.

painting all the wall a neutral white or greige would make the area look much larger, I would not paint the window trim.

You could use just about any color you want in those rooms.
