Good: trio of Soul Shine, Touch of Class and Summer Serenade, then Olive Bailey Langdon, Dressed to kill (with various minis in bad to ugly states), and Lime Ripple with ugly late season “Sportsball”

Good:
Afterglow (with Worldly Treasure, Reptillian, and Silk Kimono), Happy Dayz with Moonlight Sonata, Mourning Dove with Blueberry Muffin, and Halcyon with Ripple Effect

Good:
Remember Me, Paul’s Glory, Silver Shadow, and Ben Vernooij

Here are the uglies: Winter Frost, Night Before Christmas, Great Expectations, and the victims of the dying dogwood (excess sunlight) as Deep Blue Sea, Foglight, Tokudama, Mike Shadrack, and Cup of Grace.

More uglies: Hudson Bay, Tangerine Tango, Plantaginea with Bedazzled, and Royal Tiara

The bad, mostly due to slugs and neglect: Apple Candy (Avent), Raspberry Sundae, Electrocution, and Cool as a Cucumber

More bad, but overall good considering nearly 2 months of drought conditions: Tom Terrific, Marilyn Monroe, Icy Halo (next to bolted Long Tail Lights and bolting Roy Klehm, and Royal Charmer

This is a great thread, so good to see what is still growing well and what is fading away.

Good:

Royal Tiara - this one surprised me, we had a tree fall down and now it gets hot afternoon sun. This year it is happy

World Cup and Sunshine Glory

Bad:

Queen of the Seas - had too much sun, I moved it in August

Waterslide - not sure why it struggles. It is getting bigger but never looks great.

Ugly:

Emerald and Golden Tiara, always looks ratty after they bloom

Candy Dish - not sure why it looks so bad this year, maybe it needs a new location. BTW that is Night Before Christmas behind it and it is still looking good.

Utog……haha, you have plenty of uglies like me…. I only posted a couple. I have had late season slug damage. Many times I will drench mid August on hostas that start to show some damage, but I just didn’t get to it.

beth and utog, looks like World Cup has done well for all of us. I am also surprised at RT, as mine and yours show, the Tiaras get pretty ratty. My Waterslide is smaller than yours, but still looks good.

My NBCs are really fading away…….root competition. They used to be nice and big like yours but they are barely surviving. Is that Dream Queen next to NBC?? It looks good too!

Am glad to see am not alone in uglies and some neglect although am happy to have hostas recovering and growing so well. Weeds are growing amazing too.

Some slug damage but not too bad. I have applied handful of sluggo and need to figure happy medium betwen wildlife helpers and chemicals.

Overall I am pretty pleased

Mango tango moved and some roots suffered

Georgia sweetheart is one of most tolerant sun hostas but it moved mid July and barely had energy to send couple of new growth.

Rare breed, something is not working here.

It might not look great but makes me very happy. Brave attemp got moved and stripped of settled leaves so it sent me lots of new gloriously streaked new growth

Liberty got divided and moved

Centerfold and Forbidden fruit doing quite well in decent

Lindalana, many of yours are still looking good, especially your seedling bed! I have noticed that many of the yellows maintain good color in these pictures. If Georgia Sweetheart is good in sun, that’s one I’ll have to add. My Forbidden Fruit is new this year and still looks really good.

Debra, my Night Before Christmas is next to Great Expectations and Lakeside Spellbinder. We need to take the pine tree down which it is under so I am not sure how it will look next year. Always changes and hostas are moveable with some work.

Lindalana, GLYellowstone looks like GL Elegance……..hmmmmm

UTOG and even Beth, your hostas should show more wear and tear now, your season has been going for while longer...

Yet I see no difference in aging progress. And you have advantage of those tropical blooms...

I would like ro belong to World Cup club but am thinking while my yellow is quite upright it must be Harriet Ward...

Overall I think hostas that bloom late look good the best going into fall

I agree that GL Elegance might be a tad alike with Yellowstone. Time will tell. I planted Elegance in sunnier spot and it goes under very ugly category.

Yes, lindalana my GL Elegance is in shade and as as you can see it still looks good.

Age of Gold (except for a bad case of sooty mold). This one holds its color well, and I think it might even improve as the season progresses.

I'm not including my blues and some golds, which are mostly in fine shape other than having turned more green than blue or gold.

Bad:

Lakeside Paisley Print. This one has lost some leaves to total browning already.

Ugly:

Gold Standard. This is one of several older plants on the east side of our house that get more sun than they used to, thanks to a couple of trees being removed.

The Good:

This is a self-named streaker that I obtained from a friend. This one has Alligator Alley in it's lineage, and some OP. Been a solid performer and is holding up really well.

Beyond Glory is new for me this year, looking great still in September

Vulcan is looking great!

Another favorite this year, The King, a nice division from a friend's display gardens

Paisley Print holds up great

Hans was a beautiful nursery plant purchased this year and looks amazing

The Ugly (I am classifying ones here that I think are really going to pop next year, but are having some first year struggles):

My Gunther's Prize has limped through its first year, but survived bare root shipping, and a crazy squirrel population digging around and through it. Lots of hen manure seems to have abated the squirrel cartel.
