So you're getting brand new Taj w/these older cabinets??

Sorry, but I don't think those older looking cherry color cabs are the best choice w/this expensive quartzite.

Maybe it's the lighting, or maybe it's the photo, but these look like a red cherry stain over some other type of wood. the side panel on the fridge looks very shiny. Can you verify that these are solid wood, well made cabinets? The arched doors and the wood valance tell me these are at least 20-25 years old?

your floors are nice, and the layout seems like it works. I'd spend the extra money and have those cabs painted (if they are in good shape and solid wood). It will make a huge diff w/that new stone.

What color Taj are you getting? The slabs range in color from taupe grays, to golden.

This cabinet color has a bit more brown in the stain color and it works with this Taj slab color. (as opposed to the red in your cabinets)

Here is a nicer wood cabinet w/a warmer Taj countertop and a zellige tile splash. The glass in the uppers are nice too.

Similar colors, but these cabinets look a little better.

here's Taj with a horrible wall color. similar arch cabs to yours. Single sink, Silver faucet but they did gold pulls (ugly pulls)

Get whichever sink you like.

you could go w/a white enamel. or even a bronze undermount Silgranit or something along those lines. (I personally dislike SS sinks)

Get some samples of some pulls and bring them home to see once the countertop is installed

If I was spending that money I would remove the scallop over the sink, paint the cabinets and island, and do all handles on the hardware.

You could opt just to reface 8 of those upper doors to elimate the arch.

and if you plan on doing a tile splash, do not get the 4" piece like you currently have.

I have to agree with Beth those cabinets are dated and so much less functioal that all drawers for base cabinets that to spend huge money on a really beautiful stone is not the answer . Quartzite is a diffivcult stone to fabricate so make sure the fafricator has lots of ecperience working with it and IMO a very simple edge is always best for a timeless look too.Please before doing one more thing change all the lighting to LED 4000K it will change how that space feels and looks . then choose the counter and leave the backsplash and wall color to the end

I still love my 30 yr old cherry finish cabinets. The next owner can paint them, if they wish. They are brown, not red, and not shiny. Thanks for weighing-in on the final details! I appreciate your tips and ideas!

Agree with @cpartist entirely. If you're going for a brass light fixture, I might also do a satin brass for your cabinet pulls as well as your faucet.

ok, then it's just the photo. but the doors and valance are still dated looking. Sorry. Taj is a premium quartzite. The cabinets should be equally updated to work with it. IMHO.

My only issues with quartzite are that is is porous and needs to be sealed. Personally, I would not want that extra chore. It also scratches.

My issue with the sink, it scratches, too. So keep Bartender's Friend at the ready. One bowl and as deep as you can go.

Quartzite is not porous. Marble that is labeled quartzite is porous.

And quartzite is so hard, it doesn't scratch. Marble scratches.

judianna20,,,no. you're talking about marble. quartzite is very hard and not porous. You're talking about marble slabs that sellers mislabel. Do your homework

I have Taj and it is bulletproof. Harder than granite. I have never sealed it. I can leave red wine on it for days and…nothing. And you can’t scratch it if you try.
