I sure would not want to workout on a concrete floor . Every gym I ahve ever gone to have some soft or resilient flooring .

That is far too cheap to end up with a finish that will withstand commercial use. Your most economical and hard wearing choice is not going to be concrete. It will be a standard VCT, like is used in schools and hospitals. You can source that for about $1 a square, and have it installed for about $2 a square. Or, DIY it. It isnt difficult to install.

I think that's a great deal! I have polished concrete floor in my condo, which I had done 13yrs ago and think it was $4k. Polished concrete is more labor intensive though. Definitely ask to see previous work before committing though. The company that I hired completed many commercial properties so I knew what I was getting.

A low-pile commercial carpet is as cheap as anything and will be much quieter. I assume each machine will have a mat for a base

Definately get some quotes for the alternatives suggested. You might be pleasantly surprised in the design styles available and pricing. These options could be the basis for an overall scheme for your studio to give a cohesive visual.

I would visit your local competitors and see what they used for flooring. I would then choose a slightly more upscale look/product than my competitors used!

Maybe Ecore's recycled composition rubber floor is an option for you? Suppliers sometimes stock it in the color Grippin Gray. That will go for about $3.75-$4/SF in rolls, or about $19-20 for a 23"x23" interlocking tile.

Sorry but a pilates studio is a gym and still requires some soft footing to walk between machines I do pliates the studio where I work out has nice commercial carpet with the machines set on extra padding . I have also been to studios in other cities where sprung wood floors are used not one with polished concrete. I think the rubber flooring could be a good choice and alot cheaper than have the concrete finished properly

Patricia, your profile says you are located in BC. There is a Lagree studio there (exactly what I am opening) called Lagree West. They feature concrete floors.

Aren't pilates fundamentals similar to yoga? If so, I would think refinishing the existing floor would be preferred over adding another layer of flooring to minimize waste. Whatever you choose, make sure you get at least 3 estimates.
