Mixing Taj Mahal with Calacatta Gold Marble

So I have fallen in love with this Calacatta Gold marble slab and would love to use it in the whole kitchen but my husband is nervous about the maintenance and upkeep required with marble. He would rather use a quartzite or granite for the island. Is it crazy to think that a super light, non busy Taj Mahal quartzite could work as the island and the perimeter counters and backsplash be a calacatta gold slab?
I have attached pics of the slabs and of my ideas for the kitchen using the layout of the current construction zone in our new build (I’m obviously not a designer nor have any computer skills so this was the best I could do to try and visualize it). White oak floors, white dove perimeter cabinets with a blue island.
I need all the honest feedback. Thanks!

    None of the above.

I would not mix Calacatta with Taj Mahal.

If you really like the Calacatta and want to use it on the perimeter and backsplash, I would do a plain white quartz for the island. Or just do the Calacatta on all surfaces.

Those are two gorgeous slabs! But I think combining them is too much of a good thing. I would do either all Taj or all marble. Especially if you want the island to be a different color. You're trying to squeeze all the current and pretty things into one space, and you may love it more (and for longer) if you pull back a bit. I love the idea of a slab backsplash!

You should not mix them in the kitchen. That would be a mistake. I agree with what @chispa wrote.

Just curious - have you priced the Calacatta Gold slab? They typically start at about $12,000 per slab, and go up from there depending how good the chunks are and how much gold veining there is. I see no gold veining in your pictured slab - unlike the pics below; therefore it is likely not Calacatta Gold. Just Calacatta - which is not a bad thing. Calacatta marble is very high end as well.

I had to come back because this kitchen just popped up on my IG feed. All blue cabinets? Very pretty!

@stiley - pretty! Interesting how the photos show the island end to be a darker blue in the first photo.

Thank you all so much! Stiley, those photos you added were so helpful. I think I finally have my husband on board with the all calacatta. I would do quartz but neither of us are big fans of the way quartz looks.

Ugh and then these popped up… don’t these two kitchens look like Taj Mahal with a marble

Christina, wow, they do! I hadn’t seen that combo before but now I’m sure to start seeing it everywhere. :) It’s beautiful but I think you’d want a good designer to help pull it off. And again, I worry about the timelessness… Do you have a designer helping you? A kitchen is a ton of small and large decisions that impact the whole picture.

I don't love the look ... those photos look like they couldn't get enough of one material to do the whole kitchen, so they used a little bit of each.
