kitchen rug/windows

Wanted advice on a kitchen rug, whether it should have color in it or stay neutral bc the chairs have color. Attached a pic of something I would consider that is subdued color. Also any suggestions on windows? Should they have treatments?

nice rug choice, make certain it is large enough to fill the space and have chairs ON the rug when pulled out from table.

Yes, window treatments, bamboo blinds AND drapery panels will add the texture you need for this room.

IMO no bamboo blinds ever anywhere and for sure not in that spac e. Why is the tablre not center under the light or the light not centered on the table? As for a rug I am not fond of rugs under dining tables so can I see the rest of the homes decor please . I thhink a really awesome piece of art on the wall and if you need privacy some drapes maybe . A bit more info as to what window coverings need to address would be great . BTW I love the floor so I would not cover it at all so much easier to clean too.

Rugs should be 36-42" larger than the table top and not run into baseboards or any furniture against the walls. I would be more concerned about aligning the table and light. Once that adjustment is made, you can see if there is still room for a rug under the table. If you need any privacy from neighbors behind you, consider top down/bottom up shades so you can control the light and view.

I’d want a rug in there to break up the lines of the flooring (and anchor the table), especially as the mirrored legs are reflecting the floor pattern. I think something to bring in the lushness of outside would look great (greens and blues) — and I’d try to find something that coordinates warm and cool tones with your brass barstools and chrome table.

For the windows, I’d have inside mount roller shades, or sheers, or both together. If privacy and/or light control aren’t needed, just sheers.

You have a sort of coastal glam look going, so I wouldn’t go too casual or minimal. Otherwise it looks unfinished. A little added luxe and softness is needed here.

are you moving the light fixture, or the table? are you keeping that light?

If you can, I would move table under light. Even though that glass top weighs a ton. That would give you more breathing room for a Ruggable (washable) rug. Or even a nice indoor outdoor rug. Coordinate these choices so you only have to move the table once. 😅

Yes the light fixture is going to be moved. The contractors put it in the wrong place! Love the ideas. Def good food for thought to consider

Don’t need privacy and I love the natural might coming in. I just thought window treatments just might look a little nicer

    my thoughts:

you do not need a rug in here, the mirrored legs are reflecting the floors and I think that helps to keep the space open.

I would work on getting artwork up on the walls. I think that will help fill the void a bit.

Curtains will also close in the space, and make it feel smaller. you could do a false panel on either side.

I would get rid of the placemats and get a nice center piece on the table..

Start with the walls, get the light moved, then see how you feel. Would you consider a different light fixture?

We think a rug might work really well under your table. You could do some color but you don't have to. Here are two ideas from designs we have done which might help more.

No to a rug under the seating in the kitchen.
