Yes, I think they are definitely too high!

I think they're at a good height right now for a couple of reasons:
1. These are not standard small pendants, so they shouldn't be placed low
2. They're off-center on the island, and so need to be above head height
3. You have a high ceiling, and they're balanced in the space.
Looks good to me!

Should they be moved more over the center of the island?

Or will it look more balanced once the 3 barstools are added?

I agree they shouldn't be lowered as much as is typically done, but it does seem like they could come down just a few more inches. Maybe six, definitely NOT any lower than the top of the decorative band on the hood.

I think centering on island would be too heavy - like where they are!

I agree they look like a good height given their size and I do think the bar stools will balance out the space .

@Anne Gee:I really love your lights! But, I hope the height of your light fixture is a bit low, you can move it a few inches above. As other users suggested the size is a little bit bigger than usual, but they go along with your kitchen.

Hi Anne, generally light fixtures should not be more than 36" above a table/countertop.
I do agree with other comments that these fixtures are too large for the island below, but if you love them you can make them work by making sure you add other large scale items, such as large counter stools etc.

I love your lights! They might be a hair too big but if you really like them then I would keep them. In my opinion, they could come down just s few inches, maybe 4" - 6".

I wonder if they will look smaller without the plastic?

I also think they are to big, and wonder why you went with that color when you have pewter colored hardware.

I must say you have done a lovely job on the backsplash. So many people come to this site with issues because they chose the wrong one. You got it right the first time !
