Which Cortec did you order. I have the Advance+ that has a 15 year scratch guarantee - the original is not as good.

I am a flooring salesperson. No LVP is "scratchproof" and you are better off with a laminate as it's more scratch "resistant"....Nothing is scratchPROOF. Don't buy from a big box store. Go to a local flooring company with knowledgeable professionals.

No plastic is pet proof, if that is a euphemism for standing up to repeat urination. Only porcelain tile with an epoxy grout is kennel rated, and scratch proof.

We installed Armstrong Empower stone composite plastic version of LVP. We have two dachshunds, 12 lb and 17 lb. I am not aware of any scratching as of yet. We also have quite a bit of heavy antiques and while we protect the flooring, no scratches yet.

Also it's been peed on, barfed on, pooped on and it cleans up beautifully. We decided, with this house, that we were going to install all LVP and there's no carpet except area rugs with tile in the bathrooms.

Porcelain tile will fit your needs nicely. It has the lowest life cycle costs of any flooring.

I have Allure from HD it has been in my walk out for 15 yeras with 3 huge dogs one weighs 140 lbs. It is water proof and scratch proof. It in in th walkout where the dogs have free run to a dog run with doggie door in all kinds of weather the end of the day a damp mop it looks like new . It is the kind of flooring the overlaps with a edge that glues one piece to the next to form a waterproof floor. We used dri core under it in the basement to give a bit of cushion and keep the floors a bit warmer .The new Allure has a backing so no need for the dri core and a new finish that is even more scratch proof. As for the life cycle... Porcelain tile will last many many years beyond the point where you start hating it.

That made me laugh out loud. I'm there. I have a tile I hate so much, but I don't want to deal with the hassle, mess, and dust of breaking it up. Yet. I'll get there eventually. However I've learned a very valuable lesson - tile and wallpaper will never again grace my home. (Please note that is for me. For those of you out there who love your tile and/or wallpaper I'm happy for you. It's just not for me....)

I have a Coretec LVP which has been bulletproof, including holding up to 2 dogs who chase each other like furry maniacs in the house. Not one scratch and it's been down over a year now. I've been very pleased with its appearance and durability.

@Frank and Frank - What do you mean - only kennel rated flooring? I worked in the humane industry for 25 years and when we built a new humane society we needed a seamless flooring that went up the walls that could be hosed down and not have any grout lines or corners where water and/or bacteria/pathogens could be harbored. It was some kind of poured cement and epoxy mix, similar to the flooring they use in hospital surgical suites.

We had a central drain that ran the length of each room so we could hose the entire space down.

There is no way you would want grout joints, even with epoxy, as too much dirt and moisture could be trapped in the grout lines.

Has anyone tried Shaw Brighton? It is from Menards. It is 6mm thick has a 20mil wear layer, it's waterproof. I did try (very hard) to scratch it with my keys and it held up. It is SPC. The color is Aged Barrel (which is just for you info). I cannot find any reviews on the Menard's web site and the Shaw chat person told me that since it is only sold by Menard's they would be the only ones with comments. That sounded weird to me. Any thoughts would be welcome. Also considering NuCore Performance line (sold by Floor & Decor) if we see a color similar to what we are looking for. That one is 6.5mm thick, waterproof and has what they call a Techtanium Plus wear layer, but I don't see a thickness. Seems to be good per other discussion on this site. Comments on this welcome as well. May even help the original poster in this thread.
