Will you be needing any controllable privacy on the doors?

Likely will be using shades or blinds for privacy, but haven't given it much thought yet.

There is already a door on the left, outside of the garage overhead doors. Any fenestration (doors and windows) should start based on the floor plan, then rework both plan and elevation back and forth as necessary for functional and aesthetic results you would like. And, note that the garage overhead doors and deck posts do not align with anything upstairs, so there will be a limit on how much consistency you can achieve between the 1st and 2nd floors.

Thanks 3onthetree. To be clear, the overhead garage doors will be removed. We will be completely reconfiguring the doors and windows on the ground floor. Just hoping to minimize inconsistencies (as required by the floor plan) with the windows/doors above.

There is a big difference between filling in the overhead garage doors and completely demo'ing the entire 1st floor facade. Typically, you are limited to the footprint walls of the garage as the foundation or slab locks in the garage interior walls, which doesn't lend well to reworking the limits of the garage space - of which would be required to completely demo the entire facade and start over. Post the plan.

Here's the general plan (my amateur rendering). In the bedroom, I don't think we'll be able to match the non-opening windows from the upper floor due to egress requirements. We'll probably have to do another door there. That would mean 3 doors on that side of the house. Too many? Should they all match?

Do you have a permit for this ? You will also need an architect . Where will all the plumbing be done to feed into what already exists . Even underdrive garages are not usually up to code for actual living space

Hi Patricia. We're meeting with contractors now and getting bids. Permits and an architect may or may not be needed. We will be able to tie into the existing septic system.

You may not need an architect, but you will definitely need permits (building, electrical, plumbing and septic at minimum).

@3onthetree We ended up only adding a single faux column and bracing. It's not perfect, but definitely appears more symmetrical and we're happy with it. Just wanted to say thanks again!
