Did you overlook saying the problem only occurs while using a certain faucet?

It happens using any faucet. i even called out the water company and they checked the meter. when i showed him what was happening he said he never saw anything like it.

If the water company has never saw it happen before I can't help either.

My guess would be that you have a restriction due to mineral buildup, other contamination buildup, or internal pipe/fitting failure. The water passing through the restriction is cavitating and the cavitation bubbles are then collapsing causing the pipes to bang. The collapse of cavitation bubbles occurs at supersonic speeds, so there can be quite high amounts of localized energy present. That's my $0.02.
