Backsplash help!

last modified: 4 years ago

Hi! I love my tile panel, but would like a backsplash instead of paint. I can't find anything that coordinates well. Any help is appreciated! Sorry, the pic is in comments.

it needs shine and no grout line or minimal grout line. the tile thats up that you love is really subdued so you want contrast so it is shown off more at the same time you dont want to overtake it if you want the visuals right there..... heres a metal splash....this could be good ..I'm not sure how youd source it but might be worth the effort.

otherwise glossy white......or a sheet of neutral colored glass for the sheen obviously... [taupe/beige/grayish/cream etc] . I cant say I'd choose a color as in PINK. Your space is dressy looking..thats why sheen /gloss came to mind.

A close up of the panel, and more pics of the kitchen would help.

The remainder really should have been considered when the panel concept was decided.

I'll be honest.......You love it, but not sure pairing a tile is going to be easy, or even a great idea. Sorry. Might have been a good idea to just run the quartz up the remaining exposed backsplash. Going to be a bit toooo much going on. Definitely NOT a subway.

I'd also consider a simple no grid glass in the upper cabinets, and repeat what you already have in the panel for the rest.. Just too many "stars" on the stage competing for applause. If you loved it as panel, you can love it as a full backsplash, and more with simple clear glass- those are quite distracting with the panel pattern.

Anyway, closer please with lights on, less blurry and more angles of the entire space. Might want to add a pic of what your inspo was as well.

I agree with Jan Moyer on that - don't try to match tiles. Change all backsplash! I know it is more challenging, but the final result will worh it. I advice you to start from overall idea/ aesthetic of this room, How do YOU see your kitchen? Airy, delicate, cozy etc.

there is also paint w special metal or slightly rustic effect....that might be quite easy and get you over the finish line. copper effect paint? you dont have to rip off the tile you like.....

Bits and pieces design, will get you in "trouble" in very short order. Who and what is the star? : ) too many here.

There will be thickness issues, trim issues can result in the pairing attempt. I stand by the earlier comment. Love it enough to continue and simplify.....Or......the do over concept you don't want to hear. Understandable, but. Sometimes you set yourself up for trouble.......and don't see it as it is happening

You mentioned you love the tile...don’t take away from it/overwhelm the kitchen in general and hope you can still find the tile. If not, be sure to use the same sheen/texture and a complementary shape. Color wise, match up to either of the greys. Can you take a close up of the tile.

My standard advice is that a backsplash should provide a background for other elements in a kitchen and shouldn't attempt to be the star of the show.

here's a deep color that might play off your tile and cabinets too.......they are calling it red but a rich brown or deep taupe is the idea...love the sheen...not visible grout lines. try bringing in samples of various things . its actualy a bit hard to tell what colors are in your tile ....its not lit well in the pic. Backsplash can perfectly be a visual focus..right at eye level....those that want the detail there have excellent opportunity.

Does that accent tile you have up belong to a tile "family"? Often accent tiles will have coordinating field tiles that are meant to be installed alongside
