updating bathroom.

Redoing bathroom. This picture is white with gray for shower walls , gray hexagon for shower floor. And darker gray for bathroom floor. Would like input on if this would look good. Looking for easy to clean. Thinking of using gray grout.??
We’re replacing tub with walk in shower and replacing vanity (white vanity).

No to a white floor. It show every speck of dirt.

I love the gray but would go lighter.

We did a light gray recently..

Floor should be unpolished. Your samples looks polished to me.

Before finishes? Draw to scale the entire bath, existing condition and the plan. ........Every single inch. window, walls pocket door etc. All of it,

If by "walk in " shower you mean no curb? Does not look big enough. Prepare yourself for a wet floor, all over the darn place.

Is NOBODY sick to death of gray?

I agree with Verbo about there being too much gray. If you do install the gray I would make sure there is an overabundance of lighting. They gray especially a darker gray will absorb light and make your bathroom dark.

I don’t care for the dark gray either, from an aesthetic or maintenance point of view. I have a dark Tuscan-ish shower in a home I’m renting now - similar in tone to your grays. It’s hard to see in there! I can’t easily pick up my hair strands because I can’t see them. If you still love grays, go lighter as others have suggested. The tile you show is a very cold looking one. Do you have adequate lighting in there? Do you live in a warm climate?

Jan, nope. Have you been tile shopping lately? Still going strong everywhere.

I get it when talking about living and bedrooms, but gray for me is a nice neutral for a bathroom.

The bathroom I posted is in my Florida home.

I'm looking do a hall bath in my home up north. Hard pressed to find something different. I went to five tile stores. We put this project on hold.

Have I been tile shopping? Answer.............

I have had over thirty new baths in the past two years. I am not counting powder rooms. So yes, I have seen more tile, shopped for more tile than you will in four lifetimes.

Blues, greens , whites, , soft whites, wood , white vanities and beyond. Porcelain, ceramic, glass, you name it. North, south, lake side, sea side, and suburban lol

Many things are low maintenance : ) All things in a bath need routine and regular cleaning, and above ALL? Proper ventilation , waterproofing.

Mostly ? Before even that? Clearances, function, storage et al.

Sigh, not in my NYC suburb. Where are you located?

Show me your green bathrooms for inspiration please.

I would rethink the compartmentalization in this bathroom, so a floor plan would be helpful.

I don't think grey is a bad option for a bathroom, if you don't want all white, personally. Gray can just be a darker version of white more or less. I don't like grey everything in a decorated room, but I think bathrooms are a bit different. You can't get many colored fixtures any more if you want color (and none of the non-white versions are actual colors anymore really)

People are put in a tough spot for bathrooms because once people start talking about actual colored tile, like a Real Color, they get discouraged from doing that as well. So what's left after white or grey that's neutral? Beige?

For years The bathroom tile in this area was some sort of beige porcelain that allegedly is a neutral but actually really goes well with nothing at all. Most paint colors look terrible with it. . To me this color beige always reminded me of "bleached out skid mark in a diaper" not a very nice color.

So what's left? People are talking people out of grey now, but if they posted a cerulean blue tile would you talk them out of that too?

From your pic that is a very small place. You have chosen some pretty dark colors. I think you will be disappointed in the cave you are creating. That separation wall with the pocket door, I understand the reason behind it but I just have to say if you do a gut and remove that wall and go with one sink the SPACE you will then have will be amazing. Walls take up more square footage than you think. If you are removing the tub and swapping it for a shower you will want that extra room!!! It's really not that difficult to get used to the idea that home bathrooms are one person rooms at all times.

I don't have pics of a lot of these as all are in some very recent construction, and I have zero time to get a good picture!

Have you looked online? Where are you shopping, when you say "tile stores" ? Even Rochester NY has some great spots. No designers shall be found in the local Loews, or Home Depot, Or even the broad based "flooring" type outlet.

Have you checked out Tile Bar online? Have you considered, better YET...Getting an independent KD/bath designer or interior designer to your site?

That is virtually always the route to the best result. In all the ways a bath should be considered.

    That said? Tile abounds.

@eld6161 Don't know what suburb of NYC you're in but try Artistic Tile, Waterworks, Walker Zanger, Ann Sacks, Mosaic House, just to name a few that have loads of beautiful colored tiles.

I think watery blues and greens looks awesome in bathrooms!

Thank you everyone. We’re taking out the pocket door and removing that wall. We live in California. I have two windows so feel I get a lot of natural lighting. It seems the whites and grays are really in here. But I’m up for anything that is easy bright and easy to clean. If you have Pictures to share please do. Thanks

If that tub alcove is becoming a shower, are you going to change the window to a higher one or glass block? or how are you going to shield that window from the shower.

Even your local Daltile has TONS of tiles in all colors and shapes! Blues look great with whites, but need not dominate in order to be a classic look. These are all available from Daltile.

Lots of good independent tile shops in CA. I can give you names for LA.

Mosais floor tile is a perfect choise nowadays.

And for the wall tiles it's better to use white tile (huge size).

“I have two windows so feel I get a lot of natural lighting.”

People say this without considering there is night. There is a lot of time spent in the bathroom in early morning or late evening - maybe even the majority of time spent in the bathroom. Your choice of gray-everything is dreary. I would not want to see that first thing every morning. @JAN MOYER provided some good inspiration photos. There’s many more on Pinterest and other design websites. Perhaps you will now choose a color palette that is lighter and brighter.
