The console table needs to be between the two doors at the foot of the stairs. You have room for a more dramatic and heavier table or chest there.

It looks like there is a niche at the end of the hall with a table currently there. That would be a great spot for your bench and built-in shelves.

Yes, you need another runner to lead the eye all the way down the hall to create more depth. I don't think they need to match but if you want something more formal, get one long one.

These are easy fixes, try them first, wouldn't hurt. I have added inspo photos as another comment.

Okay I found some dramatic entry inspiration photos. The wainscotting adds depth without taking up space. Wallpaper or an interesting paint color above them adds depth, too.

Just move your console table under the mirror and put a bench with cubbies near the door instead.

The runner should be closer to the door, and a longer one. Is that a mirroe or painting? I think a mirror is always a nice touch in an entry.

What is the piece of furniture in the recess right of the stairs in your last pic? I think a bench between the two doors might work well; especially if one of the doors is to a coat closet.

I’m not sure what’s what - you’ve given us two pictures facing two different directions. I guess the door with the red box is the front door? What’s over where the arrow is pointing?

If that’s the front door, the second picture (with the inset) might be too far away for a bench in the inset.

Very pretty door. My immediate thought is - move that really great rug down to the door area of hall & move that narrow console table to sit under art across from foot of stairs. If a rug is needed at foot of stairs, add another that complements the existing one & get a shape that can be placed closer to foot of stairs so one steps off stair & onto rug. As for bench etc. need more info. What’s to right of door as you come in - that space across from where narrow console table is. And, what does the space where we see the curved demilune type table peaking out look like- to right of stairs as coming down stairs? And most important - how wide is hall & how long is each section? Draw out a simple floorplan with dimensions and doorways with their dimensions - that info will help with useable suggestions!

So I’d probably just updated the furniture but keep the current positioning.

Definitely move the rug closer to the door.

In the long run, if this is your “forever home” I might consider opening up the entry way and using part of the room on the left of the front door.
