I live in a condo that was essentially a poorly thrown together flip job. One problematic element is the fact that the heat/ac floor vent in my bedroom (where the air comes out) is installed inside the closet. In other words, they built the closet around the floor vent. This means that in order to get heat or AC into my room, I need to leave the closet door open. My question is this—do I 1.) Have a hole cut in the hardwood floor outside the closet and hooked up to the ductwork? (Obviously I would also have to close off the vent inside the closet ), or do I 2.) Install some type of duct/vent in the baseboard of the closet exterior and re-route the air through there? Additional question—who do I hire to do this? Your garden variety handyman or someone from an HVAC company?
