If you go with Cove, be sure to delect the model that has a water softener dispenser. The price difference is minimal and you will have less mineral spotting as a result. The other pluses for choosing the Cove are the 5 year parts and labor warranty and the brand’s good reputation for quality customer service which is so lacking in almost every othrr brand from basic to luxury level.

Water softener dispenser ... it's really an onboard water softener mechanism that works in the same fashion as a whole-house softener, except only within the confines of the dishwasher. Dishwasher softener salt is filled into a small storage tank and used to make brine-water that is flushed through the resin bed of the softener mechanism to regenerate it when needed, same as a whole-house water softener system. A signal triggers on the control panel when the salt tank needs to be refilled, same as refilling a rinse aid dispenser. Note that an onboard water softener does not eliminate the need for rinse aid. Cove isn't the only brand that offers dishwasher models with onboard water softeners.

There are two other threads on this forum that I can recall that address Cove. They should be discoverable by using the search function. Comments are mixed, but reach back several years.

We have had the Cove for 19 months in our new build and have been very pleased with its performance.

My guess is that when you are constructing your response, you are accidentally inserting a CF/LF (i.e., hitting the "enter" key). Or perhaps you are using "enter" to wrap your sentences. Houzz auto inserts a paragraph space for every CR/LF.

ifoco, are you posting from a smartphone or tablet and doing a carriage return (enter) at end of lines per the width of your screen? I post only from a desktop computer, on which carriage returns in Houzz/GW posts trigger a paragraph break ... so presumably does the same on other devices.

@ifoco How long have you owned your Cove dishwasher?

It was installed march of 2022. Not sure why the question. I've had it long enough to know how well it works. You get a 5 year warranty much longer than any other brand. Like I said previously it's better than an Asko, Bosch, can't speak to Miele as I've never owned one but I've owned another one of their appliances and their customer service has much to be desired and you will not get a 5 yr warranty. Good luck in whatever you decide to get.

The brand mate of the custom-panel Bosch SHVM78Z53N 800 Series Dishwasher, the Bosch SHPM78Z55N performed exemplary and earned a recommended rating from CR. At $1350 it's expensive but half the price of either Cove.

Just had our kitchen remodeled. i loved my miele dishwasher, but my husband insisted we replace it so we could have panel ready, and all the appliances were wolf/ subzero, so we went with the Cove. Big mistake! its terrible. Simple things arent clean (like a chicken noodle soup bowl). the Miele could handle baked-on meatloaf and day old oatmeal dishes. it also is soooo small inside. i can only get 5 kid cups in a row where the miele could have 6 lined up with room for a smaller item (like a shot glass) . it also takes an hour longer than the Miele! I really hate the cove. i know I will break down and order another Miele within a month!

@mjocean we’ve only had this for 2 weeks. There hasnt been 1 cycle yet that didnt disappoint. And it is so, so small inside. It takes so long to run ( forget about quick cycle - it cant even clean properly on the 2 hr 40 min one) -i dont have patience to wait to do second load, so ive been handwashing lots of dishes that dont fit - in addition to the ones that come out dirty. I should also note, dishes out of the Miele were dry: not the case with this Cove

I guess everyone comes with certain expectations. A dishwasher should definitely clean. number one expectation. The fact that yours doesn't could indicate something else is wrong. Maybe an installation problem.. Don't know but you might want to look into that.

As I previously mentioned I never owned a Miele. However, most European dishwashers differ in their stacking and the distance between tines from an American dishwasher. Most European dishwashers also run for and ungodly lenghth of time as well as their washing machines. I just don't have that much time left waiting for the dishes to get done:)) I also like to run a load during a dinner party so that part of the dirty dishes is done and clean ready for the next load.

A previous post about the Cove in another thread also had people saying how much it holds. Soooo much and has so many ways to adjust the racks and the tines. You might want to search for that thread. Bosch claims you can load 12 or 10 place settings. What a joke. My Bosch didn't even come close. It was the biggest PITA to load. I hated it.

I load my everyday handmade dishes of 8. There is a ton of space for more plates. platters etc. to fill it I have to move into another set of dishes. I run it when I have a full load or close to it. I don't pre rinse so things are stuck on including eggs. Not a problem and I don't run the 3.5 hr cycle. I frequently use the quick wash which is 60 min. the Auto is 2:07 to finish the wash. If you're dishes aren't dry there is something wrong. Are you using a rinse agent?

Have you called the factory to discuss your problems and unhappiness with a Cove Rep? Maybe they can help solve some of the issues for you. If not, I would schedule a service from an authorized Cove Tech. Have a list of all of your complaints and problems and have him go thru everything to see if there isn't something wrong and then have it fixed. If you're still unhappy bite the bullet and sell it (obviously at a loss) Life is too short.

Please do let us know if your problems were solved or if you moved on and went back to a Miele.. We all like to hear about the happy endings. Good luck.

@ifoco what dish detergent do you use?

In CR's tests, Cascade Original ActionPacs* performed the best of all readily-available detergents tested. You might want to give it a try before giving up on this very expensive dishwasher: Target, Walmart, Amazon. Though powder detergent has fallen out of favor I use Cascade Complete Powder (Target, Walmart) which cleans well in my old Whirlpool dishwasher.

*tablets outperformed all gels

I switched from the Cascade complete Pods to Cascade complete granular. The pods sometimes didn't dissolve fully and left a mess that I then had to clean up. My glasses were becoming cloudy from over dosing. the granular allows me to use as much or as little and everything always dissolves. I like it and it seems to work for me anyhow.

The Cove User and Care Manual (page 7) specifies the amount of powdered detergent to use. Maybe that's the expected type to use, rather than pods or gel.

If this dishwasher has a prewash (it doesn't have a prewash dispenser), one could also toss a bit of powdered detergent into the tub so the prewash wouldn't be with just clear water.

have had a Cove dishwasher for just under a year and Love It. The multiple cycles all work well, we use much less dishwasher soap than with previous dishwashers. It's unbelievably quiet, but has nifty lights to tell you when it's in use/cycle complete. Otherwise, you wouldn't know it was even working. Holds tons, and is configurable. Had it installed by a registered installer so got an additional year of warranty -- have had absolutely no issues at all but still knowing it has a 7 year warranty is a nice bonus. Only negative is VERY minor - hard to tell level of rinse agent. Other than that it's all positives, it's a great machine.

Cove Dishwasher Big Disappointment. Kitchen remodel 9 months ago with Viking, sub-zero, etc. Supplied and installed by Ferguson. Replaced our ~30 year old Miele. Cove just doesn't clean well even in Heavy Mode. We always have some dishes emerge still soiled where the 30 year old Miele did not have a problem. Customer Service Rep US_based and pleasant but surprisingly unhelpful (like, does the water enter hot in all modes?). The 5 year warranty is now active but my guess is that the service guy is going to talk about pre-rinsing (never needed before), rinse-aid (never used but i'm using it in the spirit of trying everything), dish packing (come on, really). Really suprised at the poor job of getting clean dishes.

Not a good idea. If this dishwasher has a soil senor like most, it monitors the cloudiness of the water to determine, for example, the cycle length. If you pre-rinse, the water will be clear(er) and performance may become even worse.

Have you tried Cascade Complete powder? It works very well -- as does Finish powder but it seems to have been discontinued.
