Why don’t you go to a showroom, and make up your own mind?

I agree you should probably see these in person and decide for yourself; also check on repair services for FP in your area- it’s not a problem where I live, in the Bay Area, but might be difficult in some areas of the country. I have owned two FP refrigerators, and loved both. I had the first for over 10 years and it was problem free; I replaced it with another FP during a recent renovation. Personally I vastly prefer the aesthetics of FP, and I trust the brand. I’ve had several FP appliances, all were/ are great.

The F&P depth is 28-3/4", and the GE depth is 27". Without seeing your kitchen, it's impossible to know whether that will be important or not. The GE will not stick out as much - do you care though. I myself do not like fridge doors with recessed handles because there will be a lot of fingerprints in that area - will that be a big deal to you or not.

@chinacatpeekin makes a crucial point about making sure there is repair service available in your area.

@darbuka - it is often quite difficult to see the models in local showrooms. Inventory is low, and the stores are not carrying every model available to look at. They usually carry a smattering of representative models of each brand. Given that this 31" size is a less popular one, the stores may not have any of that size to look at.

I wanted a fridge without water & ice. i found the FP, smaller than i was used to. i did leave space for a bigger one. it arrived plugged it in 14 yrs ago and no problems. i am surprised at what i can fit there.

We ended up punting the refrigerator decision. I have been planning a larger renovation of the kitchen and came to the conclusion (thanks mostly to feedback on Houzz) that we might want change the kitchen layout, and therefore weren't 100 percent sure if we'd want to look at the 36" F-P model or the 31".

I think we're probably are going to go FP in the end. Alternatively, there's a Bosch counter-depth refrigerator with recessed handles that might work better with certain of my layouts.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's really helpful to know how well the lesser known brands have been performing.

I *did* buy fisher paykel's induction range, and we really love it so far!

Danielle did you get the Fisher Paykel 30 inch induction range? I’m in the middle of a renovation and plan on getting that range in the classic as well as their 32 inch French door fridge. Thanks

Before buying that range, be sure to read the user guide to be clear that the all digital operations (e.g., temperature, timer, clock) are displayed in that tiny circle at the far left and controlled by the two tiny knobs below it. These are in contrast with competing ranges with large digital displays and touch controls. The oven is very small at 3.5cf compared with competing ranges.

I think wdcruise's points fall into the "is it an asset or a liability?" category. The smaller oven and small digital display are two of the reasons the F&P range is high on our list, but of course won't be the right fit for everyone.

I did get the Fisher-Paykel 30" classic induction range. I got it in the red finish. :)

I really love it so far. Baking is very even. No repair issues. The knobs are beautiful and easy to turn (not wimpy, not sticky or hard to turn either). I don't find the digital display to be too small. I do like that always shows the time, except while the oven is preheating. During preheat, it shows the temperature. (The temperature reading goes away once the temp on the dial has been attained, and is replaced by the clock.)

As you probably know already, the oven capacity is on the small side. In particular, it is less deep than you are probably used to having. Only you can decide if that is a a problem. Some baking dishes that could go any direction in my old oven need to be placed right to left in this one. But that said, I use my oven a lot, but nothing I've made so far has been too large, but I also don't regularly roast really oversized items. Despite there being no one esp large 'burner' like some competing ranges have, I haven't found that I wish anything larger than the largest burner on my model. It's fine for my largest frypans and pots. My all-clad performs well on it.

This range is less deep physically than, say, a standard GE - this is one reason I wanted it. For my old kitchen with shallow cabinetry, that is great news, even though it reduces oven capacity; the trimmer F-P fits the space much more elegantly.

Danielle, we just built a new home and we have the F&P refrigerator you are looking at. LOVE IT!! We originally planned for a 36" refrigerator and decided to keep the 36" space and trim it to fit the 32" F&P. Looks great and we have the option to change if we want...or if the next home owner wants a 36" refrigerator.
