Wall behind sofa

Please give me some ideas. The tv has to stay where it is and I cannot change the sectional now. I was thinking to add a large abstract canvas on the wall with the sectional and maybe some floating shelves on the side.

Put the sofa back together, center the rug and the sofa to the room. Put the TV on a pull out swivel. Get some cord covers and paint them the wall color. Large canvas,no floating shelves. Get yourself a coffee table, end tables and a console table for the bay window. A funky arc lamp over the sofa.

Does the wall cabinet have to stay? does the tv console have to stay?

I agree put the sectional together and get a nice coffee table and a alrge piece of art hung about 6" above the back of the sectional A wall mounted TV much lower and on an articulating arm

I prefer to keep the tv stand and the cabinet that way it is for now. I plan to add a fire place and change the room completely just not now. I would like to keep what I have and add a few items.

Then get an articulating tv mount, move the sofa to center, put it back together, get the art, arc lamp tables and coffee table. The TV mount is a game changer for this set up. Also Im realllly hoping you are not planing to put a Fireplace in that corner. Honestly the long narrow room, a fireplace is going to be even more limiting.

Your rug is a strong abstract already, and is in muted tones. I've searched and searched and in every piece of art I've found that might work, either the artwork style clashes with the strong pattern of the rug, or the colors in the art makes the rug look dingy. Maybe skip the artwork?

I agree with above suggestions, so I show my perception in the illustration below...

I would group accent pillows on your sectional and you can get cable covers for the hanging wires under your TV. By moving the white table tothe corner, you'll be able to place a small lamp in that corner. I see you have potlights but you also need different levels for lighting such as table and/or floor lamps.

@RL Relocation LLC. I am planning to add a fireplace on the wall where the sofa is now. Have a sofa across ( not the sectional) and maybe another seating area like accent chairs by the window. That is an arriculating tv mount? Are you saying to get rid of the tv table and cabinet?

I had the sectional separated because I keep the table in between for the kids. I am not opposed to keep it together, but when I do most of the wall is occupied with the sectional. Thank you all for the great tips.

    Beverly nailed it. Problem solved.

articulating is what I meant to say, which means it can move, and be aimed at the sofa rather than trying to have the sofa in front of the tv

I like the idea Beverly had best but this is what I came up with trying to keep the sectional separated.

You might look into moving the sectional pieces back together. It also might be nice to add two complementary art pieces over the sectional. Here are two ideas from our designs to help you more:

Rather than add more rectangles to the room, I would consider hanging mural wallpaper rather than art. There are lots of great papers out there that would bring wonderful ambience to the room.
