Need help picking out windows

I want to either do dk bronze or white window replacements. I am wondering if dk bronze would be worth the investment since it increases the price significantly.

Stick with white. Looks like a vine has grown over the stone. If so, use a herbicide and get rid of it.

    Great looking house!

I'd get the stone cleaned (and the ivy removed) and go w/the bronze. the darker windows w/a darker trim color would look beautiful. switch out the porch posts w/stained cedar. spray the down spout.

this color post (or you could paint yours the same as the darker trim. see colors below)

Thank you everyone! It needs to be power washed. It has pink undertones mixed with cream and grey. The house was overgrown with vines when i bought it. All of them are dead, just have to pull them off.

cute house. it has a lot of potential.

these are all colors that would work w/the stone. se how nice the dark door and wood posts look?

also put in the windows. right side is dark, left are a lighter bronze.

bronze windows w/a darker bronze trim. (shown here w/yellow based stone, but yours aren't this color? )

diff companies have varying bronze colors. Which window company are you looking at? have you compared prices w/others? (one of these below is Lowes)

    lighter grieges w/pink undertones

if you decide to go w/white, these are all whites w/pink undertones to match the stone.

Up to you, but the bronze windows and dark fascia trim, wood posts, new door and obviously landscaping, will take this house from a 2 to a 10!

    Dark bronze.

Your house is quite adorable! Glad you killed the vines but pull off the dead stuff.

Gently power wash the stones and then you can assess what color to use on the trim, door and downspouts. It looks like you have a metal roof, so that’s great!

100% agree with bronze, it would look so pretty in natural light and bring some warmth to the stone tones you have!

The guy doing my windows uses Silverline windows and he has had the best quote by far, so i am trying to stick within that collection. Here are the options for grilles and colors.

Thank you so much for all the advice!

the bronze or the silver one next to it looks nice.

does he have any physical samples for you to view? I'd take them outside and see how they look w/your stone and your roof.

honestly though, you can't go wrong w/the bronze.

Are those the original windows in the home? if yes, you can stick to those muntin sizes if you like, or go w/something the diamond bevel, or the upper sash only

I will ask, thats a good idea. Yes, they are the original windows. To answer your question about the stone, have you run across Tennessee pink marble/limestone? That is the type of stone on the exterior. Someone did a terrible patching job though. Hopefully you can see the colors in this.

I dont think you need grills. wouldn't that also helps save a few dollars? If you do grills I like the top half 3x1

It looks like Silverline is a vinyl product, right? With vinyl windows, fancy grill options are tricky - avoid grills between the glass at all costs (they always look fake/cheap) and if you have to do anything, spend the money on the simulated divided lites. But I'd keep it simple - your house is very traditional - no need to go crazy with fancy grills.

I like their dark bronze. As for the in-between-the-glass grills, please ask to see samples. Ask them if you can see them at your house, not just in a showroom or catalogue. Then you can see the quality.

I would go for the Colonial style because that fits your house. Not having grills adds too modern a feel to your charming cottage. It would be “off”.

Be sure to read reviews on the product and ask for refernces on the windows. There is a reason he gave the best quote by far and it may not be a good one. Silverline is not nor has ever been known as a quality product.

I think it's PLyGem windows now, Anderson sold the line I guess they didn't have much luck with it. We have a plant here in Jersey and even when it was Silver Line local building supply tried to push that line and also wasn't much luck, from what I heard at the time many condos and townhouse developments used that line and they made replacements windows, and there was an issue with the windows fogging up after so many years...

I agree with @millworkman, I would check reviews... I'm not sure about the PlyGem company and haven't used their products, I've seen their windows in HD stores hopefully they will improve that line and make a lasting window so far the rating is only 3.9 out of 55 reviews and I heard from a few that the warranty department sucks.

    Good luck.

Definitely Plygems owned now. Andersen bought them before they came out with their 100 Series to be their basic builders line, then sold it once the 100 was sucessful as I understand it. American Craftsman, Silverline, Plygems and Simonton (I believe) are all under the Plygems banner of which Cornerstone Brands is the parent company. That being said Silverline is just a poor product.

I would not use vinyl in bronze. Vinyl expands and contracts more than other building materials as temperatures change. A bronze coated vinyl, especially if in direct sun, will expand even more. That could cause problems in the future.

Please heed the warnings from other people who know this brand. A low quality window is not worth the savings. Live without a couch before you buy a window that is known to get hazy.

Go up to a better level windows. This is a forever house renovation decision.

More so in a brand of dubious quality.
