Room height plays a part in choosing proportionate accents lighting like pendants. As does the other general lighting plan. The work surface has to be lit well! It is, after all, the primary purpose of lighting! So, an overall lighting plan has to ensure that you don't have big shadows or hot spots.

What is your overall lighting plan for the room? What is your ceiling height? Those single small shaded pendants do not provide a lot of usable work lighting.

I would provide pics but we’re not even started with our kitchen remodel. We have 9’ ceilings. We have a small island today where the big island will go. The peninsula will go away.

The independent kitchen designer who you will work with to plan your remodel should do a lighting plan for you! A full kitchen redo has a huge ton of moving and interlocking parts, that all have to fit together and meet codes. Good luck!

three that size should work, considering anything too large would block your visual space.

you can always blow up a white balloon on a string once the island is in to see how it really looks size wise.
