my husband and I have a rental house that has a "floating staircase" really just 10 steps with a metal handrail. we are not sure what surface to put on the stairs? he has carpeted the top 4 stairs to keep them quiet and to blend in with the upstiars. now the lower stairs, he is think of putting on the tile that we have inthe first floor on these stiars so that they blend with that, but I think that would be noisy and dnagerous unless we put treads on the tile any thojghts about the best surface for a rental house.
