Do you need a fan there ? IMO there are 100s of chandeleirs that can work but if you need the fan then maybe show us exactly where you want to put it IMO that fan spinning is going to turn the lighting into strobe lighting not a nice look at all. that is what will happen IMO with the 2nd one . I do not think a wheelbarrow lighti s a good choice for MCM either so maybe post some pics of your stuff to give us aclue as to your actual style.

If your home needs ventilation then consider an attic fan in the upstairs hallway instead.

I would not do a fan unless the fan will function for air circulation, like moving the hot air that will rise in this area. I would not use a fan light for decorative purposes, just a light fixture.

Note that a fan electrical box is required to support a ceiling fan. A standard ceiling electrical box is not designed to support a fan, only a light fixture.

They are super helpful is you have an open staircase to a basement. If you heat with a wood burning stove in the basement. We love ours. The light fixture can be four or two bulbs and it has a night light type glow above that. The fan is reversible which is very handy.

What is a wheelbarrow light ? Did you mean wagon wheel light fixture? I agree with Pal, I wouldn't put up a fan if you're not going to be using it.

There is no functional reason to put a fan there, and a light would be helpful. Wagon wheel, not wheelbarrow. 🙂

No to hanging a fan there. Functionality would be minimal and would just look odd. Yes to a chandelier in that space.

Would you see the fan from the great room and, if so, would it compete with the chandelier?

I’d suggest holding off on style/size decisions until rooms are finished. If you can provide pictures when done, you’ll receive more helpful advice as it’s important to have a common thread in their styles. In regards to a fan, I’d add a chandelier instead.
