Kitchen Layout ideas

Planning a complete kitchen remodel and need ideas for the layout! My goals are to remove all the soffits, improve storage, and move the refrigerator away from the stove. I'm replacing all appliances except the frig which is a 36" wide counter depth. I'm keeping electric for stove/oven but am open to separate cooktop and in wall oven. I currently have no pantry storage and the existing cabinets have very narrow openings, dead corners, drawers that don't open all the way (peninsula corner). I'd also like to create an opening above the sink to add light and visualization of the entryway. My challenges are the openings to the garage (back wall) and laundry/furnace room. To keep budget in check I'd prefer not to relocate these (will add pocket door to laundry room) The kitchen is u shaped 12' back wall x 13' (each side wall) open to living/dining room (20x40). My style is mid century modern minimalist. Any ideas welcome!!

Also I do NOT need seating in the kitchen.

Please post a drawing of the kitchen and surrounding spaces with wall and wall opening dimensions.

Is it a priority to be able to look to the left from the sink and see into the great room? With so many nice windows there, do you have a view beyond?

I have an excellent view! I live on the top of a hill. My entire back wall is windows looking North toward the city. I have a small kidney shape pool just outside the bedroom/dining. But no, I don't have to be able to look toward them while at the sink. I had, if keeping the sink where it is, thought to cut an opening above it to look out to the front door. I love to entertain and it would be a way to see/greet guest coming while in the kitchen.

I tried a few ideas and I think you're on the right track with opening the wall up toward the entry above the sink. Your house has a lovely northern aspect with a view - no way should you be working facing a wall. I'd scoot the sink to the left and center the kitchen wall opening on the entry windows (with no opening directly across from the front door).

Wow!! Such detailed ideas. You really do love layouts! Thank you. I had considered the refrigerator on that other wall but had it where you have the pantry and couldn't get passed how closed in that felt. But on the other end it feels better.

Ideally, the center front of your fridge should be 5-9 feet away from the center front of the sink and center front of the range. I didn't check for sure, but the layout I posted might compromise on this? I did manage to meet the guideline of having countertop landing space within 48" of the fridge, though. Just a few things to be aware of as you go forward.
