so many of the newer upholstery fabrics are very stain resistant, I doubt you will need to scotchguard it. can you tell us specifically what brand / type the fabric is?

Hello! Based on the link you shared in the description of the chair it does not appear to be a Crypton/Performance Fabric. Therefore, we would be hard pressed to consider it stain resistant. It is 100% Polyester so it should be relatively cleanable since it is not a linen or velvet. We would suggest you to spray a protective coating over the fabric to be sure that you are covered. Keep in mind that protective sprays tend to wear off after 2-3 years and will need to be reapplied. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with Anne, it definitely depends on the quality. Cheap boucle can also snag like nobody's business.

When I was shopping at Room & Board, they had an off-white soft boucle sofa that was nearly pristine. I was curious about durability and they said it had been out there for around two years. They sell really excellent furniture, and they back up their products for MANY years. It's well worth the price. Wayfair, on the otherhand, has pretty good customer service, but IDK how long they will actually back it up. And the quality is all over the place-- everything from the cheapest crap to actually decent items. If the price of the chair is low, I'd steer far away.
