I think either unit above would work. Consider what will be stored or displayed there. You might be able to put together something more customized for your needs if you go with something like some of the Ikea lines. Be sure to keep your wall unit a good space from the stove (but you know that already). I would put the log/kindling materials between the stove and the wall unit. I wouldn’t put those in the unit though. If those switches or outlets on the wall above the TV are important, be sure to keep them accessible.

And I would try to incorporate some color (other than brown/beige) even if you want a monochrome palette. You still need something for a bit of contrast.

I would suggest a unit (or series of matching units) about four to five feet tall to begin at the right of the rustic fireplace and to go along the wall to the right and turn into an "L" shape to continue around the corner and under the dark picture on the right. This height of unit will allow some solid wall space in a color that contrasts from the unit and will allow you to have more wall art and/or to place small items on the top level of each unit. I believe the two units shown in the other poster's photos may be a big massive for the room, and you may prefer a unit or section of units that can be moved and relocated elsewhere. In regard to the grey chair, you can use a bold accent color in this very neutral room.

I crave colour in this space .
Monochromatic and “the sea of neutral” are not my thing but I can fix that later with art , pillows, decor items etc.

Of course, I can understand your wanting a color. I would suggest a color on the walls, and I wonder if red would be too bold for you? You still could have the units painted white or stained any wood tone you prefer and still have plenty of color contrast in the room.

But a section of mid height units sounds interesting. Not so massive, easier to move or relocate if needed and less expensive. But the space under the black picture belongs to this big, young lady and her bed. There is no other spot in the room for her bed.

You’ve been busy! The TV may be a little high for viewing comfort. The blue wall version has some space to lower it. The blue also helps to minimize the TV. But, I like the more open feel of the reddish unit. Time for more fun with the mix match game!

cute doggo! i would be tempted to get a longer console from Ikea and a large paper tapestry from Anthropologie

If you crave color why not paint the walls?…much cheaper and more effective than adding a wall unit…lots of ways to do it …
-different pale shades on each wall
-horizontal stripe in center or bottom of wall …
-an accent wall in a dominant color you love…
-pale sky blue on the ceiling…

• wide stripe of color behind a slightly raised TV…

Then add pillows…throws…art…rugs…that have some of the wall color in them

I would focus my furniture to your outdoors. Add floor to ceiling bookshelves to the tv wall. Could have high cabinets between the shelves with art or the tv above them. Use traditional arm chairs with color in seat upholstery. They keep space light, open and easily moved for conversation. Keep room painted light and upholstery a light plaid, stripe or print to use for large(22” or more) pillows. Add an oriental rug for grounding.

We changed the layout just to see if we like it better . It feels more open . In this case we would probably rotate the fireplace 45 degrees and rethink the tv and book shelve design .

Just a thought ..does the room feel smaller in this new layout?…the floating sectional defines the room better …allows more natural light into the space

The tall one would be easier to fill if the back was removed…the black background is a little overpowering
