I received a quote for 20K for custom built ins. When asked about the wood used, I received the following response:
"The cabinet boxes are made from veneer core plywood with a solid wood face frame. The shelves are also made from the same plywood and will have a solid wood face molding on them to keep then from warping."

I have no experience with this type of project but was hoping for cabinets made with mostly solid wood. Is this a reasonable quote for this type of project? The height is 8ft and the wide 13.5ft and we are in the Dallas, TX area.

I'm going to receive more quotes but also looking into other kind of storage options. Are there solid wood modular systems out there? What about putting together separate pieces like a long sideboard, bookshelves, and floating cabinets?

Our dining room is multifunctional and semi-open to the reading nook, living room, and kitchen. I need storage for: books; craft, party, school, and office supplies; puzzles, board games, seasonal items, and placemats, runners, napkins.
