Artwork placement

Having problems with where to put artwork in our family/living room. We have 2 enormous walls. I bought a 50inch x 50inch painting and thought it should go above the couch on big wall (where green tape is) but husband thinks art should be on the smaller wall or centered on the big wall. Help! Also, suggestions on decorating the walls are welcome if you don't think that 1 painting would work. It's been empty for so long now. Thank you!

Always hang wall art in relation to the furniture sitting below not to the wall.

Hi. In order to help, please post all 4 walls of the room and state if there is a tv in the space.

What is the purpose of the room? Watch tv, conversation, something else?

Does the kennel have to be visible? Could it live behind the sectional?

Reason I ask is there might be a better furniture arrangement.

Is there a reason for jamming the sectional into the corner of your somewhat large room?

Try to center your artwork between or under the downlights in the ceiling and move your furniture to work with that arrangement.

Thanks for all the tips! It's the family tv room. There is a tv on the right wall next to the built in. The room is HUGE and we have no idea how to decorate it.

Never thought of tables beind the sectional woud work. Always thought we needed walking space for those.

Dog cage there because we don't have anywhere else to put it in the house. Hoping one day we won't need it anymore but he's still a puppy right now. Never thought of behind the couch though.

I've attached photos of the room from the listing when we bought the house. We added built ins next to the fireplace. My husband doesn't want floating shelves cause the wall is so big thinks they look like they're there just to take a space.

Any other tips, design ideas and suggestions would be appreciated! The couch is 9ft x 9ft. We have a huge rug (last photo, couch is dark grey) but it's rolled up right now because of the puppy.

Hi. The sectional is 9x9, but looks like you have more of it in one leg than the other, currently.

The sectional is 9x 9 and what is the room dimensions.

Pull the sectional away from both walls about 3 feet on each side. You don't need a table behind it.

For now, the kennel can go behind one of the legs of the sectional.

Do you want a lamp? You can take out the corner and use a table there or use an arc lamp.

What about end tables? Do you want those? If so, your sectional will have to be configured accordingly. Once any lamps are in place, you can add art.

The couch is equal on both sides. I think my lens just distorted it. Can't be reconfigured, it's 2 pieces. The last photo in my last post shows the couch.

Yes we want end tables, just haven't found ones yet.

First I wonder if 50x50 is not too tall? Should be okay if you have 9' ceilings, but it is probably too tall if you have 8' ceilings. With art this large you want 8" above the sofa and 12" between the ceiling and the art.

Assuming the art is not too tall I would place the art centered above the sofa on the short wall.

If you place it centered above the sofa on the long wall you may have difficulty balancing the room.

Here are a few rudimentary visualizations.

You might consider placing artwork on both of the walls. Here are some ideas for you for how you might place artwork and how many pieces might work.

Possibly find a tryptich type of art work and have them relate in color theme product ie oil, watercolor, etc. Center the two sets over each sofa.

Also prints in large size that come in a series designed to be shown together.....automobiles, roads, bridges, abstract but a series.......the collected group should cover 2/3 of the space above the sofa. And an arc lamp could be cool
