I could picture a large floor plant there. Or--dare I say it--if this is a lower level without a lot of light, a "faux" large floor plant.

Try putting the lamp in the corner and moving the crate over a bit, or between the tv and window and move the pillow over a bit. The lamp might not look as awkward that way.

A plant, real or faux, could be nice, if there is room there. And you could try putting the lamp in the corner and shifting things around, as also suggested.

Alternatively, you could combine the floor lamp with a privacy/divider screen that covers the dog crate, when the crate is not in use.

When the crate is in use, you could fold the screen, and lean it up against the wall in the corner area that is adjacent to the dog crate/on the window wall - if there is room there -

- or wherever there is room, and wherever it would make sense.

Have you considered a crate that looks like furniture?

Might be able to use that corner for a chair or get a low table and place a light and something else pretty on the table.

A good-size pendant light would fill that corner nicely and give you the light you need. You could swag it from your wall outlet.

To draw attention to the rest of the room and away from this more utilitarian area, I'd also remove the wall clock. The pendant light will fill the corner. And maybe your decor items could be moved to the other side of the TV cabinet.

To camouflage the dog crate a bit, you could spray paint the black metal in a colour similar to the wall paint, and use a similar-coloured fitted dog crate cover.
