Awkward angles vaulted ceiling???

Love the tall ceiling in our new fixerupper but stumped by all the awkward angels. What would you do with this space? Maybe a statement piece fan/light? The beams arent pretty, so maybe paint same as ceiling to hide? Definately knocking down popcorn. Changing floor because we’re knocking down wall from living room to kitchen. Do i go white ceiling to emphasize heights or or, a bit of color to bring ceiling down a bit? The windows are north facing—warm or cool wall color? My dream is painting the fireplace SW Naval, with crisp white new mantel and trim and brass accents. If i do that, would you do any color on that window wall, or keep it all white to frame the naval fireplace? Do i paint those weird diagnol ceiling parts as if they are ceiling or wall? HELP! Thank you!

No blue on the brick. No brass. Don't paint the beams! Ignore the angled ceilings. They are what they are. You cannot change them.

Ceiling fan or chandelier, not both.

Want to know what Joanna Gaines would do? Well for starters she wouldn't do any navy blue on the brick!

This is a rustic house. Consider black or bronze accents not polished brass.

definitely the beams white, white ceiling, soft off white walls to minimize the awkward wall shapes. I really don't see a dark fp here...

I would paint everything a bright white since you are north facing…and to diminish all the oddities as much as possible…. as to the fireplace…i would try to diminish the bold size of the mantle and piece at the bottom..to be more proportionate at “ people level”…this would allow you to consider painting the fireplace if you wish…but i would avoid a strong color that may dictate your decor and furnishings too much,as you move forward…

^^Agree with everything one color so walls and ceiling blend together and the angles are not more pronounced with a change in color

A little lighter more golden color on fireplace wood details ..could go better with your flooring…as well as a more natural finish..not so shiny…

Sorry…color depending on what floor color you choose..but….in a country setting like yours a less shiny finish will feel more in tune with your surroundings..
