Reimagining large tub & shower

Our house came with a soak tub that we never use, so it’s a waste of space.
Only the cat likes it!
We also dislike our pan shower. It’s pretty basic, and the bottom will never look white again.

What can be done if we rip these out along this wall? Seeking ideas.

The tub does abut a double vanity that runs along the other wall.

While we aren’t that old, we are considering aging in place. So a ledge or seat in the shower might be nice.

A few basic & practical suggestions based on experience. No doubt others will be along to flesh out better suggestions on total overall plan. ( hint: They will want a sketch of the layout with dimensions)

Re: bench or seat - often built in seats are to far from the controls to be practical if needed for aging or mobility issues. A sturdy removable seat (such as teak) is one solution. Another is to have additional shower head and controls close to the seat.

Shower head could be on a sliding bar or removable / able to reposition so that you are able to handle and control everything from the seated position. (If you have a mobility issued where you need to be seated, you do not want to have to stand up, reach up, sit down and then have to do the all over again when finished.)

Shower doors - think about ease of access should you need to use a Walker or crutches.

Grab bars - even if you do not need them, plan for them. Put in blocking behind your shower, around your toilet, along walls so that when you do need to install you will have the necessary support to anchor them to.

Get a comfort height toilet - you will immediately love it.

Yep we need a to scale floor plan but this is done many times the only question right now is if this is the only tub or not. The plan needs to posted here in a commnet do not start another post . All measurements as if the sapce was empty and in jpeg.

1. Grab bar(s) can be useful any time. (If you put in backing but not bar, take a photo of the backing with a mark at a measured distance from the finished floor for later reference. 2. Movable seat. 3. Handheld shower head. 4. A soap/shampoo dispenser or a niche for such things — either something that can be moved when seating is necessary, or at an accessible height. 5. Hook or similar for wash cloth. Do not use the grab bar for this. 6. A solid surface for the shower walls/floor can make cleaning much easier. 7. Shower controls and a secondary head do not need to be in line with the primary shower head. This can make it easier to reach in to start the shower. 8. If your shower is a long distance from the hot water heater, consider add a recirculating pump to avoid wasting water when the shower is turned on. Mine is on a remote control switch. (Very helpful in California’s water plight.)
